Artist Statement:
Most Insecure takes inspiration from pageant sashes to explore an alternate narrative on what we as a society choose to promote. Created in 2,000+ pony beads in a traditional craft process, this piece juxtaposes traditional forms with contemporary commentary. Most Insecure comments both on the way that one's insecurities can feel all-consuming while simultaneously challenging the wearer to be forthcoming about the insecurities they are burdened with.
Artist Bio:
Alec Judelson uses traditional craft mediums as a platform for his bold, colorful, and unapologetic commentary on queer and American culture. Born and raised in New York City, he is inspired by the fashion scene in the late 80s through modern day, especially in queer communities. Primarily made in Avant-Garde silhouettes and handmade textiles, his work blurs the line between art and fashion resulting in expressive garments and sculptures.
