Dalaina Cannon
Hello, My name is Dalaina Cannon, I am a Digital Artist based in Maryland that sometimes dabbles in other Mixed-Media art forms. Alongside studio art, I also do graphic design works as well. Some key themes that I tend to explore in my work are abstraction and simplicity. I have been creating art since middle school and wish to pursue it as a full-time career once I get my Bachelor's Degree.
Street Symphony synopsis
“The city's underground hip-hop scene is a battleground for aspiring artists. Felix and his crew find themselves in fierce competition against rivaling crews for the chance to perform at a prestigious music festival. Along the way, they discover hidden talents within their crew and face tough choices about loyalty and ambition.”
For my project, I will be making a pitch for a cartoon that includes its roster of characters, title, and premise. My goal for this project will be to paint the creative process of large-scale projects such as this in an artistic light. I want to try to show people how creative works like shows start out and how the ideas and concepts behind them change over the course of their creation.
I’ve always been practicing and studying how to draw characters as a hobby, I’ve also been looking into how to do graphic design work and advertisements by taking classes and internships. I want to combine both aspects as a way of improving my skills as well as give myself more of an excuse to practice character design work, I feel like for a while now I’ve been focusing more on graphic design than character design. My project relates to the conceptual purpose of artistic tradition as the purpose of this is to pitch concepts of a fake product.
I wanted to make this show primarily because I wanted to try my hand at creating characters as well as a setting that fits those characters. I’ve always wanted to learn how to do character design, and improve upon my skills in graphic design, and so I treated this project as an excuse to do so. I was inspired primarily by animated shows from Cartoon Network like “Regular Show”, “Ed, Edd, n Eddy”, and “Codename: Kids Next Door”. I was aiming for a show that was targeted towards teens and young adults
